Fitted Bedroom FAQs
Helpful answers about bespoke fitted bedrooms, wardrobes, bedroom furniture, materials, installation and aftercare.
Yes. Xeeni designs, manufactures and installs made-to-measure bedroom furniture, including fitted wardrobes, sliding wardrobes, hinged wardrobes, dressing tables, chests, bedside units, shelving and storage built around awkward spaces.
Because each project is measured and made for the room, we can work with alcoves, chimney breasts, sloping ceilings, uneven walls and floor-to-ceiling layouts.
Freestanding wardrobes are made in standard sizes, so they often leave unused space above, beside or behind the furniture. Fitted wardrobes are designed around the room, which usually gives better storage and a cleaner finish.
A fitted bedroom can also be planned around the way you live: long hanging, double hanging, drawers, shoe storage, shelves, dressing areas and lighting can all be included where suitable.
Yes. Many fitted bedrooms are chosen specifically because the room is not a simple rectangle. We can design for loft rooms, angled ceilings, bulkheads, alcoves, chimney breasts and uneven corners.
During the survey we check the available height, depth, wall condition and access, then advise what type of furniture and doors will work best.
It depends on the room and how you use the space. Sliding doors are useful where there is limited space in front of the wardrobe. Hinged doors can give easier full access to smaller sections and often suit traditional bedroom furniture.
Some rooms work best with a mix of sliding doors, hinged doors, open shelving and drawer units. We will recommend the practical option rather than forcing one style.
Most bedroom furniture is manufactured using durable board materials suitable for fitted interiors, doors, shelves, panels and drawer units. The exact specification depends on the chosen range, finish and design.
Where relevant, we use proper internal carcasses and backs rather than leaving bare walls as the inside of the wardrobe. This gives a cleaner interior and a more finished result.
Yes. You can choose from a wide range of finishes including plain colours, wood effects, textured finishes, mirror, glass and feature panels depending on the range selected.
Handles, profiles, drawer styles and internal finishes can also be discussed during the design stage so the furniture suits both the room and your taste.
Yes. Internal layout is one of the most important parts of a fitted bedroom. We will talk through what you need to store and plan the sections around that.
Typical options include long hanging, double hanging, drawers, shelves, shoe storage, pull-out rails, dressing areas and space for luggage or seasonal items.
The cost depends on the size of the room, number of units, door type, finish, internal layout, accessories and installation requirements. A small wardrobe project will cost less than a full fitted bedroom with drawers, dressing table and multiple storage sections.
We can usually give an initial guide once we understand the approximate measurements and what you want to include. A more accurate quotation follows after design and survey details are confirmed.
Timings vary depending on design complexity, material choice and current manufacturing schedules. Once the design is agreed, your furniture is manufactured to order and an installation date is arranged.
Most standard bedroom installations are completed within a few days, but larger rooms, special finishes or more detailed furniture may take longer.
Please clear the room and the working area before the installation team arrives. Existing furniture, personal belongings, fragile items and loose flooring obstructions should be removed unless we have agreed otherwise in advance.
The room should be dry, safe and ready to work in. If other trades are working in the same room, it can delay installation or affect the finish, so it is best to avoid overlapping trades where possible.
No home is perfectly square, and fitted furniture is normally scribed and adjusted to suit normal site conditions. However, very uneven walls, weak plaster, damp areas, damaged flooring or unfinished building work can affect the result.
If we notice anything that may affect the fitting, we will discuss it with you before or during the installation.
Changes may be possible before manufacturing starts, but they must be confirmed with Xeeni so the design, materials, cost and timescale can be updated correctly.
Once manufacturing has started, changes can be limited because the furniture is made to order. Any new requirement during installation should also be discussed and agreed with Xeeni before extra work is carried out.
Some dust and noise is normal during fitted furniture installation because panels may need trimming and fixing on site. Our installers aim to work carefully and leave the area tidy at the end of the job.
We recommend keeping nearby rooms protected, removing delicate items and making sure the working area is kept clear during installation.
Removal or disposal of existing furniture is not automatically included unless it has been agreed as part of the quotation. Please tell us early if old wardrobes, carpet, skirting or other items need to be considered.
This helps us plan the installation properly and confirm any extra cost or preparation needed before the fitting date.
Yes, our fitted bedroom furniture is supplied with aftercare support and guarantee cover according to the product, materials and installation agreed. Normal wear, misuse, water damage, building movement and customer alterations are not usually covered.
If you notice an issue after installation, contact Xeeni directly with photos and details so we can advise the best next step.
Clean surfaces with a soft cloth and avoid harsh chemicals, excessive water or abrasive cleaners. Do not overload shelves, drawers or hanging rails beyond their intended use.
For sliding doors, keep tracks clear from dust and small objects. For hinged doors and drawers, report any adjustment issues early so they can be looked at before they become worse.
