The chart our own fitters carry on site — fixing centres by door size, screw length by door thickness, and a durability comparison across the four finishes we specify most.
"Centres" means the screw-to-screw distance on a bar handle, measured hole-to-hole, not the visible length of the handle itself. Match this to your door's existing drill pattern before ordering a replacement.
| Door / Drawer Width | Standard Centres | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Under 300mm | 96mm, 128mm | Small internal and jewellery drawers |
| 300–450mm | 160mm, 192mm, 224mm | Standard wardrobe drawer fronts |
| 450–600mm | 224mm, 256mm, 320mm | Single wardrobe doors |
| 600–900mm | 320mm, 384mm, 448mm | Wide doors, small larder-style fronts |
| 900mm+ | 512mm, 640mm+ | Full-height larder and tall wardrobe doors |
Fixing screws are supplied to suit a standard door thickness, but always confirm yours before ordering — a screw that's too short won't fully engage the thread, and one that's too long can protrude through the door's back face.
| Door Thickness | Typical Screw Length |
|---|---|
| 16mm | M4 x 25mm |
| 18mm | M4 x 30mm |
| 22mm | M4 x 35mm |
| 25mm+ (solid/lipped edge doors) | M4 x 40mm — confirm with supplier |
| Finish | Fingerprint Visibility | Scratch Visibility | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polished Chrome / Nickel | High | High | Wipe regularly to maintain shine |
| Brushed / Satin Steel | Low | Low | Minimal — our default recommendation |
| Matte Black (fingerprint-resistant coat) | Moderate | Moderate | Occasional wipe; specify the coating explicitly |
| Living Brass / Bronze | Low (patinas by design) | Moderate (patina hides most) | None — ages intentionally |
