The variables that move the price

Bespoke joinery is quoted per project rather than off a fixed price list, but the main variables are consistent:

• Size and layout complexity — a straight run of hinged doors costs less than a walk-in dressing room with an island unit.
• Material and finish — painted MDF sits at the entry point of the range; veneered panels and solid timber detailing cost more.
• Internal fit-out — the number and type of internal fittings adds to both material and labour cost.
• Site conditions — awkward access, sloped ceilings, or existing services can add time to manufacture and install.
• Ironmongery — soft-close hinges and runners are standard; higher-spec track or motorised elements increase cost.
• Volume — a consistent specification quoted across several units brings the per-unit cost down versus a one-off.

Enquiry to install, stage by stage

Total time from first enquiry to a finished install is typically 4–8 weeks, though this varies with project complexity, current workshop capacity, and how quickly sign-off happens at each stage.
